Kristie Harbrow is a Clinical Psychologist Registrar with extensive training in psychology, both at an undergraduate and postgraduate level.
Kristie obtained a Master of Clinical Psychology (Distinction), Master of Professional Psychology (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from the University of Southern Queensland. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the Edith Cowan University, Perth.
Kristie has gained extensive clinical experience across hospital, private practice, rural health, and university clinic settings, providing psychological assessments and therapy to clients across the lifespan.
Kristie has worked in a variety of roles, including as a provisional psychologist at Queensland Health’s Toowoomba Base Hospital, where she provided individual therapy for outpatients and inpatients with a range of presentations, including functional neurological disorders (FND), dementia, traumatic brain injury, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, adjustment difficulties, cognitive impairments, and chronic pain. Kristie also has experience conducting cognitive and mental health assessments and has worked as part of a multidisciplinary team in health psychology and neuropsychological contexts.
In private practice, Kristie has worked with both children and adults to deliver therapy to clients with a diverse range of presentations, including trauma, depression, anxiety, panic disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Kristie also has experience conducting comprehensive psychological assessments of ADHD, ASD, and intellectual disability (ID).
Kristie brings a warm and empathetic approach to therapy. She creates a supportive environment for clients to explore life’s complexities. Her therapeutic approach is client-centred and evidence-based, integrating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Additionally, Kristie has completed her Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) training allowing her to assist individuals with alleviating the distress associated with traumatic memories. With compassion, Kristie works collaboratively to help clients achieve meaningful change while improving psychological well-being.
