Building Emotional Resilience Through Yoga and Psychology Workshop Series
After a successful launch in 2015, Simone is excited to be partnering with Clayfield Yoga to present a series of workshops focusing on Building Emotional Resilience through Yoga and Psychology. Throughout these workshops experience a combination of yoga and meditation techniques as well as proven lifestyle strategies to help increase your motivation, reduce stress and make positive life choices. Overcoming life’s challenges is not always easy! Simone is a member of the APS Psychology and Yoga and APS Psychology and Complementary Therapies Interest Groups and is passionate about collaborating with other health care practitioners in order to assist individuals overcome their mental health challenges.
Summer Workshop – Managing Stress
Saturday 5 November 2016: 2pm-4pm
Learn a unique combination of meditation, yoga and practical life strategies for a renewed outlook on life. Stress is an inevitable part of life. Stress can become problematic when we miss opportunities to engage our natural response to stress by using relaxation and grounding techniques. This workshop will help you to learn techniques to release excess energy and to calm your mind, relax your body and feel inner peace.
During the workshop, Simone will provide you with practical strategies to assist in managing common areas of difficulty. Senior yoga instructor Tanya Zappala will guide participants through a range of breathing and meditation techniques as well as yoga poses to help promote awareness and mindfulness of body and mind. Each workshop will include individual and small group activities, as well as ample opportunity for questions and discussion. To compliment this, each participant will receive a take home pack which includes, psychological information, practical activities to enhance your mood, home yoga practice routines, relaxation / meditation audios and wholesome recipes.

Dr Simone Shaw
Simone is a Clinical Psychologist who provides treatment to clients experiencing difficulties with a conflict, anger management, depression, anxiety, pain management, stress management, substance use, adjustment to injury, pregnancy, birth and beyond. Simone adopts a flexible and practical approach to therapy in order to assist clients to learn effective skills and techniques to manage their self-reported areas of difficulty.
Tanya was initially drawn to yoga to help balance a stressful corporate career and now uses her experience to share with others. Tanya’s approach to her teaching is based on how the lessons we practice on the mat compliment and support where it counts, off the mat in the real world. She believes that awareness and mindfulness techniques help individuals make wiser choices to create the life they want.
